Welsh Cup third-round draw: 32 sides discover fate as top-flight teams enter competition
The New Saints will begin their defence of the JD Welsh Cup with a home tie against Welsh National League Premier Division side Mold Alexandra.
The draw for the third-round took place at FAW HQ earlier today, with teams from the Cyrmu Premier – Wales’ top-flight league – entering the competition.
Wales internationals Connor Roberts, the full-back, and Will Vaulks, the midfielder, joined Head of Competitions Andrew Howard to conduct the draw.
Abertillery Bluebirds – who were only promoted to the fourth-tier this season – will host 2017-18 winners Connah’s Quay Nomads.
The only all-Cymru Premier clash sees Newtown travel to Jenner Park to face six-time winners Barry Town United, while Carmarthen Town host Ammanford in a Carmarthenshire derby.
Bala Town, winners in 2016-17, go to Essity Stadium to play fellow north Wales outfit Flint Town United.
Penrhyncoch host Cymru North pace-setters Prestatyn Town, as Dane Williams takes his Cambrian and Clydach Vale side to Sketty Lane to face Cymru South leaders Swansea University.
