Wales skipper Sophie Ingle named in WSL Team of Year

Sophie Ingle has earned a spot in The Athletic’s WSL ‘Team of the Year’

The 28-year-old who hails from Llandough was recognised for her first-team exploits for Chelsea this season.

Ingle was included in the squad after an expert panel came together to vote on a number of awards hosted by The Athletic.

She made 15 appearances for the Blues and scored four goals before the season was halted.

Ingle – captain of the Welsh national team – was nominated for the Women’s Player of the Season but out lost to Blues teammate Bethany England.

The Athletic’s WSL Team of the Year in full:

Goalkeeper: Ellie Roebuck (Man City)

Defenders: Leah Williamson (Arsenal) Gemma Bonner (Man City) Magdalena Eriksson & Maren Mjelde (both Chelsea)

Midfielders: Farah Williams (Reading) Sophie Ingle & Guro Reiten (both Chelsea)

Attackers: Beth England (Chelsea) Vivienne Miedema (Arsenal) Lauren Hemp (Man City)
