When Wales secured qualification for a major tournament for a second time in five years with a 2-0 win over Hungary in November, a wait until the summer of 2021 for trips to Rome and Baku was certainly unexpected.

However, the Premier League is due to return on June 17 after three months of suspension and the Red Wall will alternatively be watching with a keen eye, as many of Ryan Giggs’ squad return to action.

As the schedule for the early stages of the return of football has been confirmed, we take a look at when Wales’ stars will be back on the pitch.

Wayne Hennessey

Despite finding regular football hard to come by at Crystal Palace this season, Wayne Hennessey’s performances for Wales in the qualifying campaign were paramount, notably making a remarkable double-save in the 2-0 win over Hungary.

Danny Ward

Similarly to Wayne Hennessey, Leicester City’s Danny Ward has been used as a back-up goalkeeper this season.

The Foxes have had a very impressive season under Brendan Rodgers, which will get back underway with a tough trip to Watford on June 20.

What follows for Danny Ward and Leicester City is a home fixture against Brighton on June 23 and an away clash with Everton on July 1.

Ben Davies

Arguably Wales’ most consistent player, Ben Davies again showed his quality in the qualifying campaign and has featured regularly for Tottenham Hotspur this season, especially since the departure of Danny Rose.
