Wales midfielder Charlie Estcourt will depart Reading this summer after the club confirmed they will not be renewing her contract.

The long-serving midfielder spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at FA Women’s Championship Charlton Athletic before the Football Association made the decision to curtail the season owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Estcourt, who progressed through Reading’s youth academy after joining when she was eight, signed her first professional contract with the club in 2017.

She re-joined the Royals following a stint with Chelsea, but will depart the WSL outfit after spending five years of her senior career at the Madejski Stadium.

The 22-year-old is one of a number of first-team players who will leave Kelly Chambers’ side this summer. Fellow long-serving midfielder Remi Allen, Mayumi Pacheco, Millie Farrow, Jo Potter, Rachael Laws, Sophie Howard and Maxime Bennink have also been shown the exit door.

Estcourt has won 29 caps for Wales since making her debut against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Istria Cup five years ago.

Reading manager Chambers told the club’s website: “I would personally like to put on record a massive thank you to all the players; every single one of them has played a huge part in the success and development of our club.

“I cannot thank them enough for all their efforts and what they have given to myself as manager, the team and the club as a whole during their careers at Reading.

“It is never easy saying goodbye to players, but I would like to personally wish them all the best in their next adventure.”
