Leicester City: George Thomas and Rhys Davies released by Foxes

Leicester City have released Welsh pair George Thomas and Rhys Davies.

The pair are two of eight players leaving the Foxes after their contracts were up with the Premier League side.

Thomas is leaving the King Power Stadium after three years with the club, having moved from Coventry City for an undisclosed fee.

Leicester-born Thomas failed to make a senior appearance for Brendan Rodgers’ side and spent the last two seasons on loan at ADO Den Haag and Scunthorpe United.

The 23-year-old mainly represented his hometown’s U23s side, captaining them on a number of occasions.

During his time with Leicester, Ryan Giggs called upon his services for the Welsh national team on three occasions.

His last appearance in a Wales shirt was Wales’ 1-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in March 2019.

Davies, 21, leaves Leicester City after almost three years at the club.

He joined the English outfit in September 2017 from Newport County.

The Cardiff-born goalkeeper featured for Leicester in the EFL Trophy and like Thomas, played mainly in their U23s side.
