What to expect from Alhagi Touray Sisay following Seasiders departure

The news broke yesterday that striker Alhagi Touray Sisay has left Aberystwyth Town amid reported interest from League Two side Grimsby Town.

A statement on Aberystwyth’s website read, “Everyone at Aberystwyth Town FC sends Alhagi Touray Sisay our best wishes as his football journey continues away from Park Avenue.”

Having had spells with Hearts, Hull City, Santi Vicenti and Stoke City, the striker certainly showed promise after signing for Aberystwyth Town in January.

The Seasiders, competing for a place in the top six, scored 24 goals in the Cymru Premier prior to the January transfer window.

Their goals tally trailed that of The New Saints, Bala Town, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Caernarfon Town, Cefn Druids and Barry Town, with five of these sides going on to secure top six finishes in Phase One.

The addition of Alhagi Touray Sisay in January added much needed goals to Aberystwyth’s lineup, scoring his first in an away fixture at Cardiff Met University, whilst notably netting a hat-trick in a 5-3 win over Airbus UK Broughton.

In the win over the Wingmakers at Park Avenue, the Spanish striker was clinical throughout and showed strength, pace, ability with both feet and a habit of being in the right place at the right time.

Touray Sisay also linked up well with target man Adam Davies, and captain Marc Williams, who was operating behind the two strikers.

The Spaniard looked a real coup for Aberystwyth Town, as the striker found form prior to the league’s suspension.

In recent years, the Cymru Premier has been a step in the career of strikers like Christian Doidge, Scott Quigley and Adam Roscrow, who have all gone on to play in the English system.

With Grimsby Town reportedly interested, it looks as though Alhagi Touray Sisay will be the next to make the move.

The Mariners can expect a striker who scored goals at Cymru Premier level and would have continued to do so had it not been for the league’s suspension.
