Lincoln City sign Welsh defender Joe Walsh from MK Dons

Lincoln City have signed defender Joe Walsh, following his exit from MK Dons.

The 28-year-old joins Michael Appleton’s side on a free transfer after he left Milton Keynes, following five years of service.

He’s the clubs eighth summer signing after the additions of Adam Jackson, Conor McGrandles, Evan Ross, James Jones, Lewis Montsma and Liam Bridcutt.

“I’m delighted now that it’s all done, and I can’t wait to get going and start training, said the Cardiff-born defender after making the move to the Imps.

“I’ve spoken to the gaffer a few times and he’s sold the club to me. I’ve seen the training ground which looks great and when I played at Lincoln, the fans were brilliant.”

Walsh is an 11-time Wales Under-21 international but has yet to make an appearance for the senior side.

He was called up for their World Cup qualifier against Serbia in November 2016, but didn’t make an outing.

The Cardiff-born defender will now work under former Oxford United boss Michael Appleton.

He links up with fellow Welshman Aaron Lewis, who joined the club from Swansea City in August 2019.

Commenting on his new signing, Appleton said: “He’s another player who will add great experience to the group that we’ve assembled.

“He’s someone who is reliable, a good footballer, but most importantly naturally left-sided ensuring we can add some real balance to the defence.”
