Ipswich Town clinch signing of Welsh goalkeeper David Cornell
Ipswich Town have signed Welsh goalkeeper David Cornell on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old joins he Tractor Boys after his departure from Northampton this summer.
He left Sixfields after four seasons with Northampton, helping them to promotion from League Two.
Cornell has committed to a two-year deal with Paul Lambert’s side but there is a possibility of an extension.
“I really wanted to be a part of it so that’s why I ended up coming here,” said Cornell on his move to Portman Road.
“It’s another step in my career for where I want to be.
“Fingers crossed that this season, we can make that step and finish as high as we can – and hopefully that’ll take us into the Championship.
“I really liked what I heard. We both have the same ambition and that’s to get the Club back to the Championship and to challenge at the right end.”

First-team players Emyr Huws, Gwion Edwards and James Wilson are currently on the books of the Suffolk club.
Wales Under-21 international Adam Przybek is also contracted to Ipswich.
Waunarlwydd-born shot-stopper Cornell began his career at Swansea City and had six years as a contracted professional to the Swans.
During his time there, he had loan spells in the Cymru Premier with Port Talbot.
He also played for Hereford United and St Mirren on loan.
He moved on to Oldham Athletic, making 14 appearances before finding a permanent home in Northampton.
Cornell made 108 appearances in four years for the Cobblers.
