What next for Wales star Harry Wilson?

With Diogo Jota becoming the latest arrival at Anfield, Wilson’s future at Liverpool hangs in the balance.

The Wrexham born youngster has been on the fringes of the Premier League champions’ squad, having been sent on loan to Derby and Bournemouth for the past two seasons.

It is clear that Wilson is no longer part of Klopp’s plans going forward, with Shaqiri looking to remain at the club and the addition of Jota to his squad. With these two attackers being the secondary options as part of the German’s plans to defend the title.

The midfielder who hails from Corwen had an impressive first campaign in the Premier League. Despite falling out of the favour towards the end of Eddie Howe’s reign, he managed seven goals for Bournemouth in thirty one appearances.

The Welsh international showcased his long-range striking ability in football’s most competitive league, against top-six sides Manchester City and Tottenham. With the Welshman managing two goals in the latter game having come off the bench, giving hope of a late comeback.

Wilson isn’t known to be the most prolific goal scorer, despite having scored 35 senior goals already in his career. However, when he does score, they tend to be memorable.

Having become a specialist at free-kicks, he offers his team danger from long range.

The 23-year-old played a key role in Wales’ qualification for the Euros which is set to take place next summer.

He kept his country’s qualification hopes alive with his individual performance out in Baku, where he picked up Man of the Match scoring a goal and assisting another as he guided Wales to the victory.

Another loan move away from Liverpool looks unlikely, with a permanent move looking the best available option for both parties. The Merseyside club would be looking to offload Wilson for around £15-20 Million. But who is interested in purchasing the Liverpool academy graduate?

Leeds United

The newly promoted club have shown interest all summer in the midfielder.

It is clear to see why, with Leeds setting up in a formation which could compliment the Welsh international who would fit right into their right midfielder role.

During their opening game against Liverpool, Leeds looked predominantly to overload the wings when attacking the home side.

Harry Wilson would provide competition to Helder Costa who currently fulfils the right midfielder slot. With depth in every area a key requirement for success in the Premier League.

Newcastle

With the Magpies having already raided Bournemouth with the captures of Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson as well as fellow relegated footballer Jamal Lewis from Norwich. Wilson could be reuniting with two of his former teammates at St James’ Park.

Newcastle were linked with the Welshman last summer, before he was loaned out down south to the Cherries.

Again Wilson would be bought here with the intention of adding competition for places in the midfield for the Magpies.

With Newcastle having lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 on the their opening weekend fixture. Steve Bruce would utilise Wilson’s deliveries of which they have lacked from the right hand side, with Carroll aiming to make the most out of these.

Aston Villa

Having survived relegation on the last day last campaign, Dean Smith will require improvement within his side if he is to guide them to safety yet again this season.

Smith’s stuck with El-Ghazi on the right wing throughout the entirety of the previous campaign. However, the Dutchman failed to impress.

With the Villans crying out for goals from another source other than main man Jack Grealish. El-Ghazi only registered four goals all campaign. Wilson bettering his tally by three despite having only started one game since the restart.

Wilson would be a cheap improvement on El-Ghazi with his deliveries into the box and ability to score from long range.

Wilson will have until the fifth of October to complete a move when the transfer window will shut close should he look to exit his boyhood club.

However, should Wilson want a move following that deadline, there will be a domestic window which then opens after that deadline for clubs in both Championship and the Premier League to complete deals, which ends on the 16th of October.
