Prestatyn Town sign former Wrexham left-back Johnny Hunt

Prestatyn Town have confirmed the signing of former Wrexham defender Johnny Hunt.

The 30-year-old is joining the Cymru North outfit after recently leaving National League North outfit Kettering Town.

Last season, he had been on the books of Scottish Premiership outfit Hamilton Academical, making 16 appearances for the Accies.

He is most known in Welsh football for scoring the winning penalty in the 2013 FA Trophy final against Grimsby Town at Wembley Stadium.

Seasiders boss John Lawless said: “Johnny’s got a great left foot and can play in a number of positions, he’ll be another great asset for this club to get to where we want to be.

“There was a number of clubs after him so we’re delighted he’s bought into what we want to achieve at Prestatyn Town.”

Hunt started his career at Wrexham playing over 100 appearance in two spells at the club. He also scored the winning penalty in the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium.

He’s also played for Cambridge, Chester, Mansfield, Stevenage, Hamilton.
