Connah’s Quay make triple swoop late on transfer deadline day

Connah’s Quay have made a triple swoop for Douglas Tharme, Johnny Hunt and Tom Moore.

Midfielder Tharme joins from National League side Curzon Ashton, who are currently on a playing hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hunt, who can play either in defence or midfield, has a single England C cap and joins from Prestatyn Town.

Moore is a central defender from Widnes, who also has experience at Droylsden and Marine and could be seen as a direct replacement for Priestley Farquharson After who last week joined Newport County.

The club remains in limbo due to the suspension of football in Wales, Nomads boss Andy Morrison has moved to strengthen his squad ahead of the possible resumption of the 2020/21 season.

A former youth player at Wrexham, Hunt had two separate spells at the Racecourse Ground, accumulating over 100 appearances for the Dragons.

Hunt, who despite playing at left-back, was Wrexham’s top scorer in 2013 and won the club their first FA Trophy in the same season.

The 30-year-old also had spells in the Football League with Cambridge United, Mansfield Town and Stevenage, before joining Hamilton Academical last season.

Tharme, another former Wrexham player, also began his career at the National League outfit as a youngster.

He made his debut for Wrexham in 2017, before signing a professional deal, where he would make seven first-team appearances.

He had loan spells at AFC Telford United before moving to Gainsborough Trinity and then Radcliffe Borough.

Since being released by Wrexham last summer, Tharme had been playing in the National League North with Curzon Ashton, accumulating 12 appearances.
