Burnley announce partnership with Cymru North outfit Llandudno
Burnley and Llandudno have announced that they will team up as part of a British Isles club partnership.
The Seasiders, along with LOI outfit Ramblers, NIFL Premiership side Portadown and Scottish Championship club Ayr United will act as feeder clubs to the Pr
Benefitting from the partnership, the clubs will receive information from Burnley in development and education of their coaches and players.
As a result, Burnley’s scouting network will identify talent in the parents clubs region. Players will travel to Burnley for camps and assessment to join their academy.
There will also be a chance for the academies to compete in pre-season and tournaments, as well as the possibility of players moving on loan for first-team experience.
Commenting on the affiliationAlan Pace, Chairman of Burnley FC, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for us to grow Burnley’s footprint and profile in every corner of the British Isles and benefit from working with some fantastic clubs on our doorstep.
“We look forward to developing a strong working relationship with Ayr United, Cobh Ramblers, Portadown, and Llandudno, which will no doubt benefit the clubs, the coaches, and their players for many years to come.
“This is very much the first step in our plans to expand the football network of Burnley, build the relevance of our club beyond the North West of England and ensure that Burnley’s academy continues to be a high-performance hotbed for future first-team players and international footballers.”
In response, Llandudno’s chairman Andrew Croston said to The Sport Report: “It’s a great opportunity to say our pathway has extended for academy talent, and likewise Burnley youngsters can come and play on beautiful North Wales and have a great time.
“It’s a two-year deal with an option to extend if it’s going well. A lot of further details need to be added, all the clubs involved are excited and all see it as a positive and it’s about building relationships with those clubs as well.”
