Jamie Bird departs Barry Town to rejoin Bristol Manor Farm
Jamie Bird has departed Barry Town United to rejoin Southern League side Bristol Manor Farm for the 2021/22 season.
The 23-year-old, who joined Barry in February, moves on once more from the club after initially joining for a loan spell in 2016.
Bird departs the Vale of Glamorgan side after netting one goal in 13 appearances, with most being as a substitute.
He could line up against the Linnets next month with Barry beginning their pre-season preparations with a trip to The Creek.
Commenting on his return to the English non-league outfit, he said: “I’m delighted to be back at the Creek, and I’m looking forward to the season starting up.
“Hopefully as a club we can achieve promotion this season, and on a personal note I’m hoping to contribute to double-figure goals and assists.”
The Linnets could also be set to lose another player in their forward line, with Curtis Jemmett-Hutson also linked with a move away from Jenner Park.
Hutson, who has recently been called up to represent Barbados, was listed as a Redditch United player by the Barbadian FA, signalling that a move is afoot.
Despite two departures, Gavin Chesterfield has persuaded key players Jordan Cotterill and Kayne McLaggon to pen new deals with the club.
Cotterill, one of the longest-serving players at the club, continues his stay after joining in 2013.
A delighted Chesterfield said: “Jordan has been a big part of our success in recent years and now moves into his eighth full season with us.
“He had a very good campaign last year in terms of goals and assists and I’m excited for what lies ahead.”
McLaggon meanwhile, will spend a fifth season with his hometown club.
The 30-year-old had a frustrating past campaign due to injuries but still netted 11 goals in 20 appearances, earning the top scorer award at the club.
“Kayne has been a central part of our success in recent times,” said the Barry boss on the signature of his star striker.
“He’s a local lad, which means a lot to our supporters and provides an excellent example for children in the local area who can aspire to emulate what he has done and play for their hometown club and beyond.”
