Penrhyncoch sign Geoff Kellaway and Bulgarian defender Tihomir Trifonov

Penrhyncoch have begun their summer recruitment drive with the signings of Geoff Kellaway and Tihomir Trifonov.

Kellaway, leaves Aberystwyth Town, meanwhile Trifonov is making the move from his native Bulgaria.

After making more than 350 appearances for the Black and Greens, Kellaway has left Park Avenue and made the short trip to Cae Baker.

Kellaway made five appearances for Aberystwyth last season as they finished in 11th place in the Cymru Premier.

He brings A-League experience to the Roosters, having played eight games in the Australian top-flight.

Most of his clubs have been in Wales, where he also played for Llanelli and Carmarthen Town .

Commenting on his move to the club, Kellaway said: “I’m really happy to sign for Penrhyncoch. It’s a great club with fantastic people and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.”

Assistant manager Sion James added: “Geoff is a major signing for us, he’s a Welsh Prem legend who I have massive respect for on and off the pitch.

“I was lucky enough to share the pitch with him at Aber and now again with Penrhyn. He’s going to be a massive boost for us, his experience and leadership will be huge. He’s a winner.”

Joining Kellaway at Penrhyncoch is Tihomir Trifonov, who adds experience to their backline.

Standing at six foot and three inches, the towering centre-back has played the majority of his career in Bulgaria, but has also had spells in Moldova.

Trifonov began his career with Dunav Ruse, before moving to Lokomotiv Mezdra. The side in which he spent the most time at was Montana.

Elsewhere, he also featured for Neftochimic before a move to Moldovan first division side FC Bălți.

“I like the club due to not having to train three to four times a week, and I feel great,” said Tihomir on joining Aneurin Thomas’ side.

“There are very good people, very good coaches, a perfect atmosphere and a team of good players. Everything is good!”
