Nicky Church announces decision to stand down as Croesyceiliog manager

Nicky Church has announced that he is stepping down as manager of Croesyceiliog.

Church leaves the club following their departure in the Welsh Cup after losing 3-0 to Abertillery Bluebirds at Woodland Road on Friday.

He was appointed as manager in May 2020 but was unable to manage the club in a league season due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Della Cheedy and Mike Colcombe will take charge of the FAW Trophy match against Llanyrafon

Announcing it to the club, Cheedy said: “Unfortunately I have made the decision to step down from my role at Croesyceiliog.

“Things haven’t worked out as planned and I feel it is best for me and the club that I resign from my position as first-team manager.

“I want to wish all the players and committee all the very best for the season ahead and beyond. I thank them for their efforts since I took over.”

In response to his statement, Croesyceiliog said: “It is with regret that today we have had to accept Nicky Church’s resignation as first team manager.

“Della Cheedy and Mike Colcombe will take charge of next week’s game while the club decide the next manager for this season

“We thank Nicky for all his hard work while with us.”

Croesy are due to begin their 2021/22 Ardal League campaign on July 31 when they host Rhayader Town.
