New Saints and Nomads find out prospective third round UECL opponents

Connah’s Quay and The New Saints today found out their prospective third round opponents in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The Nomads, should they beat Pristina will face the winner of Bodø/Glimt of Norway or the Icelandic champions Valur.

Anthony Limbrick’s side meanwhile face a tough test against either Czech outfit FC Viktoria Plzeň or Belarusian side Dynamo Brest.

The ties will be played on August 5 and August 12, the same week as the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup and the start of the Cymru Premier season.

Norweigan side Glimt won the Eliteserien for the first time in their history after last season.

They qualified for the first round of the UEFA Cup back in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Both sides have yet to qualify for the group stages since the reformatting of European football.

Valur lost 5-2 to Dinamo Zagreb in the last round, meanwhile, Glimt lost by the same scoreline to Legia Warsaw.

This is the first season that Welsh sides have competed in the competition after its launch this year.

The closest a Welsh side has got to qualifying for the group stages was a 5-2 play-off defeat to CSKA Sofia back in 2010.
