Luxol St Andrews 5-0 Cefn Druids Futsal: Druids suffer defeat Futsal Champions League

Cefn Druids Futsal fell to a 5-0 defeat in their Futsal Champions League preliminary round group match. The group A match saw Luxol take a 4-0 lead in the first half before adding a fifth in the second.

Luxol forward Maikinho gave the Maltese side the early lead just after 3 minutes. Azzopardi made it two in the sixth minute before Maikinho scored his second after 12 minutes. Raducu made it four before the break. Telisi added a fifth goal after 34 minutes with the only goal of the second half.

Luxol St Andrews pressured from the start of the match. Passing the ball around the court trying to stretch the Cefn Druids defence. Cefn Druids tried to contain Luxol but they moved the ball quickly and when Druids did attempt to get forward, they countered quickly.

St Andrews will now top Group A with Cefn Druids bottom. With the other two teams in this group still to play. The team top of the group will qualify for the Elite round along with the best runner up across the tournament.

Luxol St Andrews began the first half brightly with Herbbreth Blot seeing his shot blocked from an early Luxol corner.

Luxol’s early pressure told as forward Maikinho fired in the goal just outside of the area just after the three minute mark.

Cefn Druids had a chance to level almost straight away. Connor Rogers broke forward and was fouled inside the area to win a penalty. Rogers took the penalty himself but slipped as he took it and pulled the ball wide of the goal.

Luxol continued with their attacks and Druids keeper Chris Williams making a number of good save to keep the score at 1-0.

The pressure told as defender Carl Azzopardi sent a bullet shot from half court into the top corner of the goal.

Cefn Druids came back as Rogers saw his free kick blocked before having another effort on goal saved by Vella.

12 minutes in and it was three as Luxol’s good passing saw them find space on the left. A good ball across goal towards the far post saw Maikinho on hand to tap home for his second of the game.

Luxol added a the fourth on 17 minutes as Emil Raducu hit a stunning volley from the right. Watching the ball come down Raducu lashed the ball into the goal.

Half Time; Luxol St Andrews 4-0 Cefn Druids

Luxol began the second as they did the first. Keeping the pressure on Cefn Druids Williams saved from Raducu and Celino Alves smashed the crossbar.

Druids were more compact in the second half and looked to counter. Luxol were patience and kept the ball moving around the court.

Luxol had the better chances in the second half with Hebberth Bolt seeing his shot come back off the woodwork.

Druids had their own chances with Rogers forcing a save from Vella in the Luxol goal. Rogers had an another effort blocked as Druids look for a way back into the game.

Stew Evans in goal for Cefn Druids made several good saves in the second half but could do nothing to stop Luxol’s fifth. Marrwan Telisi firing into the top corner from distance.
