Josh Essen switches from Llanelli Town to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Josh Esen from Llanelli Town AFC following a successful trial with the West Midlands club.
The young Welshman who was released by Swansea City at 13-years-old has been given another chance in professional football.
Esen played for Dafen Welfare A.F.C along with Llanelli Town for three years following his release from the Swans.
Josh Esen went to have trials with the Premier League club on the 23rd of August and later signed a professional contract on the 31st of August.
After both the player and Llanelli Town confirmed the move, Wolverhampton Wanderers today announced the signing today as he will join up with the Under 18s side.
Commenting on his move, Essen said: “I have to say a big thank you to Andy Legg and Gary Lloyd when I was given to them by John and Martin for being 100% supportive and believing in me in the time I was involved with the first team.
The first team players are immense what a group of lads are in it together and their support was tremendous.
“I am forever grateful and I will never forget my full first-team team debut.”
He featured for the first half against Pontypridd Town FC as he played 45 minutes of the game before being substituted in a 4-0 defeat.
He grabbed a goal and an assist against Carmarthen Town on the 20th of August as helped his side win 2-0.
