Bangor City appoint Maturin Ovambe as their new Head Coach

Bangor City have appointed Maturin Ovambe as their new Head Coach.

Ovambe rejoins the Citizens for a second spell having previously been assistant manager to Pedro Pasculli.

He takes over the club in eighth position in the Cymru North with four wins, four defeats and three draws.

A report from SportsGlitz.Net says that the English coach will be in charge for the remainder of the season, replacing Hugo Colace.

The report adds that he had offers from other clubs but due to his previous experience, he wanted to work with Domenico Serafino again.

It is unsure whether his predecessor Colace will remain as a first-team player at the club, having previously played at Nantporth before being appointed.

The 37-year-old made one senior this season appearance in a 4-2 defeat to Guilsfield, as well as naming himself as an unused substitute in their defeat to Bangor City.

Ovambe’s background comes from where he created a Sunday League team in Derby, before forming them into a team into the Midland Alliance League.

As well as coaching in England, he has worked with Bellaria in Rimini.

Tweeted on October 10, Ovambe tweeted a photo of himself with the caption: “Starting a new journey at Bangor City.”

In his Twitter biography, he also lists himself as Head Coach at Bangor City.

He will have ten days to prepare his new team with their next game not until October 22, away at Conwy Borough.
