Former Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender joins Penybont

Penybont have made a major acquisition by completing the signing of defender Mark Little following his departure from Yeovil Town.

The 33-year-old had been playing in the National League for the past season but has opted to move on and ply his trade outside of England for the first time.

Little made 19 appearances for the Glovers in the league last season as they finished 12th in what was his first venture in non-league football.

The right-back has more than 200 appearances in the English Football League and was at Bristol Rovers just last summer. He played 23 times for the Gas before he was released in the summer of 2021.

Before that, he was playing in the Championship for Bolton Wanderers, but experienced relegation with the Trotters in 2019.

His career began at Wolverhampton Wanderers, graduating from their academy system to make 26 appearances in the Championship but had loan spells at Northampton Town, Chesterfield and Peterborough United.

His loan at London Road was turned into a permanent one and that is where he spent most of his professional career, turning in just under 200 appearances as an EFL Trophy and League One Play-Off winner at the Posh.

The Worcester-born defender spent three seasons at Rovers’ inter-city rivals Bristol City and won the League One title and EFL Trophy during his time at Ashton Gate, making over 300 appearances.

Little was the third signing to be announced following the addition of Llantwit Major winger Josh Jones and goalkeeper Kelland Absalom from Barry Town United. Keyon Reffell, recently released by Merthyr Town has also joined.

Absalom 24, was mainly the backup choice to Mike Lewis at Jenner Park last season but made nine appearances, keeping three clean sheets in all competitions.

Attacking midfielder Reffell, 31, got three goals in 17 appearances for Barry before departing for the English non-league.
