Jonathan Davies succeeds Conor McGaharan as Port Talbot manager

Port Talbot Town have moved swiftly to appoint a new manager after Conor McGarahan by appointing Jonathan Davies.

McGarahan stood down from his role after gaining a full-time opportunity with the Steelmen giving him his blessing.

The UEFA A Licence coach managed the club for a majority of Port Talbot’s 2021/22 Cymru South season which saw them finish bottom with no points recorded.

“Sad to say goodbye to all the great people throughout the club,” he tweeted after his departure was confirmed. Committee, players, and fans. Thank you all for last season.”

In what will be a competitive Ardal South West including the nearby Baglan Dragons, a newer face has brought in what will be a rebuilding campaign for the former Cymru Premier outfit.

Bush has held roles as a Development Manager of Briton Ferry Llansawel as well as overseeing the reserves side at league rivals Ynysygerwn.

He left the Neath club in January to take up a coaching role amongst McGarahan’s coaching staff but has now been placed into the hot seat himself.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I am honoured to be asked to manage the first team at this great club, looking forward to the coming season. I can’t wait to get started and do my best to give the fans something to cheer about.”
