Newport County and Swansea City pairs head to Pontypridd United

Pontypridd United have made a triple swoop for Aaron Hillier, Joe Woodiwiss, and Lewys Twamley.

Hillier, a striker, joins on a permanent deal has been on the lookout for a new club after leaving Swansea City.

Twamley and Woodiwiss however have joined on a six-month loan deal from English League Two outfit Newport County.

Left-winger Hillier has joined having been on the books of Swansea’s academy, featuring for their Under-18 team. 

The 18-year-old has played in the U18 and the FA Youth Cup with those appearances coming in 2020 but will now look to make the step up to senior-level football.

He had been with the club during pre-season and did enough to be registered, making his debut for the Under-19 team on Sunday afternoon, scoring in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff Met.

Midfield Ellis Hibbert also featured in the match and was a part of the Swansea academy like Hillier. He was on the books of Merthyr Town last season, playing in three matches for the senior team.

Following Hibbert and Hillier to the USW Sport Park is defender Woodiwiss and midfielder Twamley.

Newport have greenlighted loans l that will take them up to the end of Phase One of the 2022/23 Cymru Premier season.

Woodiwiss, 19, has found himself on the bench on a number of occasions in a few league matches.

He played the entirety of the match in Newport’s 1-0 win over Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup last season and to date, he has eight EFL Trophy appearances to his name. 

Woodiwiss is joined by Exiles teammate Twamley who is highly rated by those involved at the Gwent club.

The midfielder has turned out for the Wales Under-19’s team before, making his debut in September last year.

The 19-year-old has featured 12 times for Newport in the EFL Trophy and also has two FA Youth Cup appearances.

Hillier, Twamley ad Woodiwiss made their debuts with Twamley getting on the score sheet in a 2-0 win over Newport County whilst Woodiwiss was booked.
