Carmarthen Town 5-0 Swansea University – Noah Daley hat-trick completes victory for the Old Gold – JD Cymru South

The Old Gold ran out comfortable winners over Swansea University and made it 2 wins from 3 in the Cymru South on a very hot afternoon in South Wales with a hat-trick from Noah Daley. Luke Thomas opened the scoring and Bradley Gibbings also grabbed himself a goal.

Carmarthen Town hosted Swansea University at Richmond Park on another hot afternoon in South Wales with very testing conditions expected for both sides.

The first chance of the afternoon came for the Students just a couple of minutes into the game. Wyn Thomas picked up the ball in his own half and launched it forward. It was met by Adam Orme, who headed it down to Jack Rosser, who got a early shot away but it crept over the bar.

The home side then built themselves back into the game, the ball found its way to Matthew Delaney but the shot was mishit and it was easily gathered by Ben Edwards.

The deadlock was then broken on the 9 minute mark. Bradley Gibbings received the ball and drove forward, he got to the byline and picked out Liam Thomas in the box. The striker had a simple job and tapped it into the goal to give the Old Gold a early lead.

After a quiet period in the game with no real chances for either side, Harry Huddart then gathered the ball for Uni. He skipped past a few defenders and found some space at the edge of the area but his shot went over the bar.

The home side then doubled their lead after 36 minutes. Harry Huddart lost the ball in the middle of the pitch for the Students. It was then picked up by Noah Daley who skipped past a few defenders, took it around the keeper and tapped it into the net. A lovely goal taken well by the winger.

3 minutes later the home side went 3-0 up. Some slick play in the middle of the park was finished off by a well timed ball which beat Wyn Thomas at the back. Gibbings was straight through on goal and the right hand side winger buried it past Ben Edwards and capped off a 5 star first half performance for Carmarthen.

It was then 4-0 just before half time. The ball was lumped forward from Carmarthen, Ben Edwards came for the ball but accidentally ran into Bradley Gibbings and the keeper was now on the floor. The University side claimed for a free kick but nothing was given and the ball fell to Noah Daley who tapped it into a empty net to finish off the game before half time.

With the first big chance of the second half the home side made it 5-0 with a fantastic cross from Jordan Vickers whose ball in found Noah Daley and the former Lido winger headed it in and completed his hat-trick.

Another quiet stage of the match with the sun a major factor. Carmarthen then won themselves a free kick just outside the box when Jac Walters was fouled. The resulting free kick is nicely worked but nothing comes from a Jaime Rickard shot.

With no real big chances in the latter stages the home side had the ball in the net again but Liam Thomas was offside from a Tom Dyson cross.

Not long after the referee blew up to signal the end of the game. Carmarthen completed a 5-0 victory over Swansea University.
