As-it-happened: Penybont 0-1 Connah’s Quay Nomads

Penybont welcome Connah’s Quay Nomads to the SDM Glass Stadium in the JD Cymru Premier.

Despite the early point of the season this is a big game as third host second. 

Penybont sit in third place with 20 points and a win over the Nomads would see them go above them into second place.  For the Nomads a win will keep them in second and help them keep pace with league leaders TNS. 

Bont are on a good run of form and have not lost for five games.  Wins over Aberystwyth and Airbus in the league along with a Welsh cup win over Risca United.  They have also picked up draws with Flint Town and Pontypridd.  Their last match Saw them run out 3-0 winners over Airbus.  A Lewis Dutton own goal, Rhys Kavanagh and a Nathan Wood Penalty giving them a big win on the road. 

Connah’s Quay are a on a seven-game winning streak in all comps.  Four Cymru Premier wins along with two in the MG Cup and a Welsh Cup win over Cardiff Met.  They are currently four points behind TNS at the top of the table.  Their last match was a 2-0 win over Ruthin Town which booked their place in the Nathaniel MG Cup semi-final.

Last season saw the sides draw both meetings in the Cymru Premier and they have already met once this season. George Horan and Mike Hayes getting the goals in a 2-0 win.
