As-it-happened: Briton Ferry 2-1 Ammanford – Tyler Brock brace maintains unbeaten start

Briton Ferry Llansawel edged out Ammanford 2-1 at Old Road to maintain their unbeaten start to the Cymru South season.

A first-half brace from Tyler Brock gave the Reds a two-goal cushion but Jordan Langley’s 92nd-minute goal set up a grandstand finish.

Andy Hill’s side move up a place in the league to third after Llanelli Town suffered a heavy defeat to Carmarthen Town. Ammanford remain in eighth place.

The games first chance fell to Luke Bowen who was played in on goal as Briton Ferry made a quick transition into attack. Bowen in goal tried to put the ball past Joe Massaro but the Ammanford keeper came out well to save.

Ammanford started to gain a foothold trying to play thought captain Lee Trundle. After Kris Evans headed away the ball from a corner aimed at Trundle, Ammanford were able to get the ball back to the striker but he shot wide.

Soon after Trundle picked up the ball on the edge of the Ferry box and hit a first-time shot on the turn. His powerful low drive went just pas the post.

Trundle saw another effort saved by Rhys Wilson and Briton Ferry went on the counterattack. Connor Goldsworthy ran down the left and send the ball into the box. His ball found Tyler Brock who hit a low shot into the corner.

Jordan Langley went close to levelling but Rhys Wilson got a strong hand on his close-range header.

Goldsworthy got into the box and had a go for goal but his shot was blocked for a corner. The corner went in the box and the ball came to Brock who hit a shot into the top corner.

Ammanford pushed to get back into the game during the second half. Danny Birch saw his effort from outside the box saved by Wilson. Lee Trundle headed just wide from a corner as the visitors pushed.

Callum Thomas hit a powerful shot from the edge of the box only to denied a goal by a Rhys Wilson save. Thomas was again denied by Wilson after his run into the box allowed him a close range shot. Liam Samuel hit the follow up but it went over.

As the game came to a close both Cullen Kinsella and Tom Walters saw shots saved by Joe Massaro which could have sealed the game.

It was to be a nervy finish for the host as Ammanford did finally get a goal back. Jordan Langley firing past Wilson after running into the box.
