Barry Town showcased their superiority as they hit Porthcawl Town for six in a clinical second-half display to progress in the Welsh Cup at Jenner Park.

A brace from Kayne McLaggon and goals from Michael George, Jordan Cotterill, Ollie Hulbert, and Callum Huggins put the Linnets on course to advance to the next round of the competition.

After a strong defensive display in the first 20, Michael George finally broke the deadlock. After being played in behind by Ollie Hulbert, George smashed the ball from outside the box. The ball went past Andrew Fisher in the Porthcawl net for the opening goal of the game.

Kayne Mclaggon continued to ask questions, with Fisher required to make a fantastic double save to deny him from doubling the scoreline.

It took the home side over half an hour to find their second, although it came through Jordan Cotterill. The ball was played in behind by Troy Hiscock-Greening with one of his first touches since coming on. Cotterill chased it and slotted home with ease to double their advantage.

Despite a couple of Porthcawl chances, they were unable to test Luc Rees in the Barry goal. They were soon made to pay as Jordan Cotterill turned provider. His pass through to Ollie Hulbert was tucked away nicely by the forward.

This is where the floodgates opened. Barry found their fourth just three minutes later. Callum Huggins, only minutes after being introduced, found himself on the end of a Harrison Bright cross to nod home.

Just five minutes later a fifth goal was added. Kayne McLaggon got amongst the goals when he tucked away another Jordan Cotterill assist.

The sixth and final goal was scored again by Mclaggon just three minutes from time. Fisher made a good save to deny Cotterill before the midfielder played it across goal to McLaggon who made no mistake in slotting the ball into the empty net.

A dominant display sees Barry Town advance. Their next game is at home to Pontypridd United on Tuesday the 17th of October.  Porthcawl return to South Wales Alliance action on the 21st of October. They face Dinas Powys FC at home.
