Jamie Breese poses with a Kerry shirt, a club in the Ardal Leagues North East

The summer transfer window for clubs officially opens in mid-June, but several teams from the Ardal Leagues have already begun announcing new arrivals and departures.

While clubs in the third tier are not bound by the same transfer window regulations as the Cymru Leagues, they cannot register players until the window opens on Monday, 15 June.

There will be 11 new clubs competing in the third tier this season, with 10 sides promoted and one relegated from above.

In the Ardal North East, Carno and FC Queens Park will be aiming to build squads capable of securing their status following promotion.

Broughton United, Kinmel Bay and Nefyn United have all been placed in the Ardal North West. Broughton and Queens Park competed in the same division last season but now find themselves in different regional sections.

Connah’s Quay Town and Kerry have both received reprieves, with the latter already making a signing that has attracted plenty of attention.

In the Ardal South East, Cwmbran Celtic have dropped down from the Cymru South and will face newly promoted New Inn and Newport Corinthians, who have stepped up from the Gwent Premier League. Tredegar Town, who finished second from bottom last season, have also received a reprieve.

The Ardal South West has an interesting new addition in Canton, who have been moved across from the South East. It will be intriguing to see whether the switch influences their recruitment plans. Mumbles Rangers, runners-up in the West Wales Premier League, have earned promotion, while Penydarren and Port Talbot Town also move up from the South Wales Premier League, both bringing previous experience at this level.

Below is a club-by-club guide to the teams confirmed for this season’s Ardal Leagues, along with their transfer activity to date.
