A forward released by Crewe Alexandra this summer has landed on his feet after securing a move to Cymru North side Denbigh Town.
Ffranc Vaughan-Evans has put pen to paper on a deal with the Welsh second-tier club, who have handed him the opportunity to begin his senior career.
Vaughan-Evans was among 10 scholars from the Cheshire outfit who were informed they were free to find new clubs this summer, but the 18-year-old has now found a new home.
Former Crewe Alexandra striker makes transfer return to Wales
The Corwen-born player has spent the past four years within Crewe’s academy setup after initially being recruited from Bala Town’s youth system. A striker by trade, he has now returned to North Wales and is preparing for his first taste of senior football.
The teenager has been involved in Denbigh’s pre-season preparations over the past few weeks and will be hoping to make his mark as he takes his first steps into the men’s game.
“I’m pleased to sign for the club and look forward to the season ahead”, said Vaughan-Evans to Denbigh’s official club website.
“It’s been a tough pre-season training with the lads and the standard has been really high; now it’s time to get more minutes in senior football and have a positive effect on the team.
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of a good crowd at Central Park and performing to our potential”.
During his time at the Mornflake Stadium, Vaughan-Evans was recognised for his performances when he was nominated for the LFE Goal of the Month award in April 2025.
After progressing through Crewe’s academy ranks, he earned a two-year scholarship with the Railwaymen in June 2024. He went on to represent the club’s U18 side in the Premier League’s U18 Professional Development League, helping the team secure a third-place finish in the Northern Section last season.
Now, with a move to Denbigh Town confirmed, Vaughan-Evans will look to continue his development and establish himself in senior football.
“Ffranc comes from four good years at Crewe where he’s grown as a player, and now comes to us ready to play senior football”, said manager Dewi Llion.
“He’s a big lad for his age, and at 18 there’s loads of scope to improve as a player who had already shown his quality this summer.
“I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing what he can do at Central Park”.

Denbigh Town’s transfer business to date
In terms of incomings, Denbigh have bolstered their squad with the signings of Harry Martin from Ruthin Town, Elliott Orton and Toby Gallagher-Keenan from Gresford Athletic, and Hugh Holland from Buckley Town. Their season begins on Saturday, August 1, when they travel to Buckley Town.
Meanwhile, Jac Humphreys and Gwion Dafydd have both departed for league rivals Porthmadog, while Nathan Deform is currently a free agent.
