Denbigh Town make key change as new Cymru North chapter begins

Denbigh Town have appointed Eddie Maurice-Jones as their new First Team Manager, replacing long-serving boss Dewi Llion, who stood down after eight years in charge.
Maurice-Jones had been serving as First Team Coach after returning to Central Park in January. The appointment marks his third spell with Denbigh Town, having previously been involved with the club as both a player and manager.
He has also managed Gresford Athletic and held a Director of Football role at Rhyl. During an earlier spell at Denbigh, Maurice-Jones worked under Richard Williams-Cooke.

When he last joined Denbigh, the club were in the bottom three. The team gradually climbed the table to secure a respectable mid-table finish by the end of the season.
Denbigh went on to exceed expectations, finishing runners-up, five points behind Caernarfon Town in the 2017/18 season.
Upon his appointment, Maurice-Jones said he was delighted to be allowed to take charge and help continue the work achieved by Llion.
“I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to become Denbigh Town’s manager and to help this great club continue the fantastic work Dewi has achieved.
“Dewi has been an unbelievable servant to the club, not only as manager but as a pivotal part of its success and development throughout his tenure. He leaves behind a strong foundation, and I have nothing but admiration and respect for everything he has done.
New boss faces early test
Maurice-Jones takes over with Denbigh currently 12th in the Cymru North table, having collected four points from a possible 21.
He will have the chance to make an immediate impact, with a home fixture against Bala Town next up on September 11.
A Welsh Cup tie follows on September 19, with the match set to be shown in front of the Cymru Football TV cameras.
The month will then be rounded off with another fixture on September 26.

Llion’s departure brings eight years in charge of the first team to an end. Maurice-Jones now takes over, returning to a managerial role at a club where he already has a long-standing association.
Denbigh Town will now move forward under Maurice-Jones as they look to improve their position in the Cymru North.
