Wrexham make exciting former Man City signing ahead of Cardiff City clash

Wrexham have announced the signing of England youth international Millie Davies as the Adran Premier champions continue to strengthen their squad.
The 23-year-old arrives with experience of top-level football in England and the United States, having made her Women’s Super League debut with Manchester City before moving to Hofstra University in New York.
Davies becomes the latest addition to a Wrexham side that has been active in the transfer market following their domestic success.
Wrexham add former Man City player to squad
Davies made her Women’s Super League (WSL) debut for Manchester City at the age of 18 against Aston Villa in January 2021.
She went on to make further appearances against Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Birmingham City later that season. The midfielder also gained European experience with City.
Davies was part of a star-studded Manchester City squad which also included future Lionesses Georgia Stanway, Alex Greenwood and Keira Walsh.
After leaving City, Davies moved to Hofstra University in New York, where she represented the Hofstra Pride.
She helped the university win the 2022 CAA Championship before being named to the All-CAA First Team in 2024.
Wrexham continue trend of international recruitment
Davies’ arrival continues a trend of Wrexham recruiting players with international experience or links to the international game.
Lucy Farrell was part of the Wales senior squad earlier this year, while Natasha Thomas is a Jamaica international who joined the club from Ipswich Town.
Lydia Sallaway has also arrived on loan from Aston Villa, while Mikayla Cook was the club’s only domestic signing, joining from title rivals Cardiff City.
Davies is also reunited with Farrell at the Racecourse, having known her for several years.
Speaking after completing her move to the Adran Premier champions, Davies said: “I’m super excited, and I’m very happy to be here.
“I was really happy when I heard about the interest from the club, and I like the ambition that the club has.
“All the girls here are great. I knew a lot of them prior to joining, and that helped in making the transition a little easier. I’ve been friends with Lucy Farrell for years, so it’s good to be back with her.
“I’m definitely an attack-minded player. I’m also a creative player so I can help on that side with the team.
“Playing in front of the fans on a weekly basis is going to be really fun. They bring a lot of energy, and they create a great atmosphere.”
Head coach Jenny Sugarman said Davies had already impressed during pre-season.
“Millie is an exciting addition to the squad,” she said.
“She is technically strong, with a great left foot and is positionally flexible with nice attacking intent.
“After spending a week with us in pre-season, we could see how much she will add to the group on and off pitch.”
