Goalkeeper Lucas Myers has left Swindon Town this summer to join the Welsh top flight.

Myers had been on the books at the County Ground and spent several spells out on loan during his time with the Robins.

The teenage goalkeeper has now moved to West Wales, signing for Haverfordwest County permanently, who compete in the Cymru Premier.

He becomes Haverfordwest’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Lewis Rees, Clayton Green and Jordan Hackett-Valton.

Last season, Myers gained senior experience with spells at Brislington, Western Football League, before moving on to Swindon Supermarine. He also previously had a loan stint at Melksham Town F.C.

The 18-year-old joins a club that has introduced a hybrid model, meaning he will be able to train on a full-time basis despite the part-time structure of the league.

Speaking to the official club website after signing, Myers said: “I’m really excited to have signed for the club with their ambition and where they want to get to. I’m looking forward to a new challenge and being part of this great club.”

He has already become familiar with his new surroundings, having trained at Bridge Meadow Stadium in April, according to the manager.

Haverfordwest manager Tony Pennock said: “Lucas trained with us in April and showed all the attributes we look for in a young footballer. He has already experienced a good level of senior football on loan from Swindon Town. He shows an excellent level of maturity for someone so young, and we look forward to seeing him continue his development at the club.

“Having three goalkeepers, two of which are full-time, adds depth and competition to our goalkeeping department.”

He will face competition for the number one spot from Ifan Knott and Luc Rees, who shared goalkeeping duties last season at Haverfordwest.

Knott ended the campaign as first-choice keeper, making 20 appearances and keeping nine clean sheets. Rees also played 20 matches, recording six clean sheets as the pair rotated throughout the season.
