Haseldin commits to Wellmen as he eyes higher finish

Holywell Town manager John Haseldin has committed to managing the Wellmen next season as he aims for an even higher finish than last season.

The long time stalwart of the club, where he has had a 16 year involvement at Halkyn Road, guided Holywell to a fifth placed finish last season.

Haseldin took over the reigns as first team manager in 2012 and during his five years at  Holywell, he has won the Cookson Cup, Mawddach Challenge Cup, FAW Trophy and won the Welsh Alliance, bringing success in multiple competitions, as well as improving the stature of the club after an impressive Welsh Cup run back in 2014, where Holywell reached the semi-finals, losing 2-0 to Aberystwyth Town.

With two top five finishes in the second tier, Haseldin is now looking to go one further and is aiming for the clubs highest finish.

Speaking to the clubs official website, he spoke of his delight to extend his stay at the club and spoke of his ambitions for next season.

“Well done to everyone at the club to finish a very respectable 5th place for the 2nd year running after promotion is a great achievement.

I’m happy to announce that I’ll be staying on next season. I will give it absolutely everything for us to have our best season yet.”

Fortunately for Haseldin, as he eyes a higher finish, the board have given him their backing and will give him the tools required to chase that higher finish.

“The club’s committee are really happy with John’s decision and will do everything possible to assist him in having another great season for the Wellmen.”
