Barry Town have further added to their ranks ahead of their Welsh Premier League campaign, bringing in former Ipswich Town midfielder Elliot Scotcher.
The 23 year-old becomes Barry Town United’s third signing of the summer alongside striker Kayne McLaggon and promising young winger Samuel Jones.
Scotcher, a former Under 16 and 17 Welsh international, joins from fellow Welsh Premier League outfit Aberyswyth Town.
The midfielder is also a former Cardiff City youngster, who joined Ipswich Town under the reigns of Roy Keane, before returning to the Welsh Capital to help Cardiff Metropolitan climb up the Welsh Leagues – playing a key part in the heart of theArchers midfield.
Following his graduation Scotcher joined the Evo-Stick League, signing for Merthyr Town, before swapping for the Welsh Premier League – he was part of the Aberyswyth Town side which finished 10th during the 2016/2017 season, narrowly missing relegation by four points.
Following the signing of the highly rated midfielder, manager Gavin Chesterfield described the player’s desire to want to be part of Barry Town United football club.
“Throughout our discussions, Elliot has shown a real desire to be part of our club and what we are about.
“He is a player who fits our philosophy and style very well and will add further creativity and quality to our midfield.
“I’m looking forward to working with Elliot and helping him fulfill his undoubted potential.”
The player himself said he’s looking forward to playing alongside a number of players he has come up against over the years.
“After speaking with Gavin and hearing his plans it was a straight forward decision for me to join.
“I’ve played with or against a number of the lads in the squad previously and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together this season”.
Barry Town United fans will have the chance to see Scotcher in action when the club host Goytre on the 15th July.
