Haverfordwest capture promising Pontardawe midfielder Williams along with duo

Haverfordwest County have continued their summer recruitment drive as they recruit Daniel Williams to the club following an exit from Pontardawe Town along with Sam Rodon and Connah McFenton.

Williams has already played for the club having played in the friendly win over former Welsh League side Newcastle Emlyn.

The 17 year-old made himself known to the Bluebirds faithful as he scored twice and had a commanding performance in the middle of park, showing balance and poise on the hall according to the Bluebirds website.

The midfielder who has also featured for Goytre United has represented Wales both at U18s level and at Welsh Colleges level, showing his ability.

Joining Williams at The Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium is Llanelli Town shot shopper Connah McFenton and Aberystwyth Town centre-back Sam Rodon.

McFenton joined the Bluebirds having played as back-up keeper to Craig Morris in the Reds promotion to Division One as he moved on from Port Talbot Town.

At the young age of just 21 McFenton is already making an impact as he is a goalkeeping coach at the Cardiff City academy.

A familiar face is also flying in to become a Bluebird as Sam Rodon rejoins the club, having left for Aberystwyth Town last year.

Haverfordwest and manger Sean Cresser will be hopeful that Rodin will be able to recapture his form at the club from his previous spell.

Rodon made 27 appearances for the Green and Blacks last season after following Wayne Jones to Park Avenue after signing from relegated Haverfordwest, where he won a clean sweep of Player of the Year awards, as voted by the Club, Fans and Manger.

Speaking to the County Echo, Sean Cresser stated his desire to see Rodon play alongside captain Sean Pemberton for the upcoming season.

The Bluebirds were keen to see him back at the Meadow to partner captain Sean Pemberton at the heart of defence, and are delighted to have secured his signature,” said a club statement.

“This ambitious signing shows that the club mean business, adding yet more quality to a line-up that looks increasing impressive.

“We would like to welcome Sam back, and wish him a successful season.”

Rodon is the second former Havefordwest player to link up with his former side in pre-season as the club also saw Declan Carroll leave Premier League side Carmarthen Town.

Aberystwyth Town are looking to sign Declan Carroll despite him not having kicked a ball for the Bluebirds since his return from Carmarthen Town. Despite having made seven approaches for Haverfordwest County players in the last 14 months ,there is no truth in the rumour that the Pembrokeshire club have become a feeder club for their mid Wales neighbours!
