New signing Kayne McLaggon scored twice as Barry Town United defeated Newport County in a pre-season friendly, but what are the key areas Gavin Chesterfield will look upon following the victory?
McLaggon shows class in win
This was a chance for Kayne McLaggon to prove himself, and he did exactly that, scoring two first-half goals against Newport County as he helped Gavin Chesterfield’s side to a pre-season win over Mike Flynn’s side.
McLaggon was lively from the off, and will hope to add to his goal tally at Jenner Park when the Welsh Premier League season kicks-off on the 13th of August.
Trialist the creative spark in middle of park
Barry Town United’s trialist in the middle of the park was superb throughout, his vision was excellent – and if signed, could prove to be a good coup for Chesterfield ahead of Town’s return to the Welsh Premier League, and will only add to the options Gavin Chesterfield has at his disposal already.
Shot-stopper Mike Lewis faultless in win
Mike Lewis was again sensational following his record breaking season in the Welsh League Division One for clean sheets last season, and produced some fine saves – and his reactions were once again superb, especially when the Exiles provided more pressure on the Barry Town United back-line in the second-half.
