RECAP: Barry Town United secure play-off birth after draw with Newtown at Jenner Park

JD Welsh Premier League

Barry Town United will be looking to book their place in the European play-offs when hosting Newtown in the JD Welsh Premier League.

The Linnets have been on fire in Phase Two of the Welsh Premier League – and have won all six of their games, and they will be looking to maintain that against Newtown on Sunday afternoon at Jenner Park. A point would see them secure a European play-off spot.

Chris Hughes side, on the other hand, currently lie in second place in the bottom half of the table. The Robins have also been in fine form in the second-half of the campaign but suffered a devastating loss in their last game in the Welsh Cup semi-final.

They also recently lost 3-2 at home to Carmarthen in the JD Welsh Premier League. Barry will fancy their chances of increasing their unbeaten run, especially taking into consideration that they defeated Newtown away earlier on in Phase Two as goals from both Ryan Newman and Kayne McLaggon handed Gavin Chesterfield’s side all three points.
