Welsh Alliance Division 1
Greenfield 4-3 Penrhyndeudraeth
With both sides looking to bounce back after disappointing results in their previous league fixtures, onlookers were treated to an entertaining match at Alpha Park.
The deadlock was broken in the 33rd minute when Leon Sumner scored to put the hosts ahead. It remained 1-0 until the 60th minute, when the match sprung into life with two goals in five minutes. Keiron Roberts found the back of the net to double Greenfield’s advantage, only for Meilir Williams to pull one back for the visitors. Williams was not done there, and continued his fine goalscoring form 10 minutes later when he netted his second of the match to draw Penrhyndeudraeth level.
The scoreline remained tied for only three minutes, as Sam Jones netted to once again put Greenfield in the lead. With the score at 3-2, George Sutherns equalised for the visitors with only five minutes remaining, and it looked like he may have rescued a point for the visitors. But there was to be late heartbreak for Penrhyndeudraeth, as Greenfield won a penalty just three minutes later, which Danny Calvert coolly dispatched to win the match for the hosts.
Llandudno Albion 1-2 St Asaph City
It was a tense match at Maesdu Parc, and it was the visitors who made the perfect start to this match, as Simon Fawcett gave them the lead with an early goal inside the first six minutes of this match. St Asaph City found themselves 2-0 up around the half hour mark, as Jonathan Terry doubled the visitors’ advantage.
The hosts, got a goal back 15 minutes from time when Dan Evans scored following a corner. However, it wasn’t to be for Llandudno Albion as St Asaph City withstood their late onslaught to come away with all three points.
TAKE STOCK VAN HIRE CHALLENGE CUP
Meliden 2-2 Amlwch Town (*Meliden won 3-2 on penalties AET*)
The visitors made the perfect start to this match, as Rhys Roberts scored to put them 1-0 up inside the first two minutes at The Mine. The score remained 1-0 until the 49th minute, when Chris Marsden equalised for the hosts. However, the two teams were level for just five minutes as Rhys Roberts netted his, and Amlwch’s, second goal of the game.
The visitors looked confident of sealing the win, and were leading until the 85th minute, when Mike Williams equalised for the hosts to force the League Cup tie into extra time. After a goalless extra half an hour, it was time for penalties, and the hosts ended up progressing after winning 3-2 in sudden death.
Pentraeth 3-1 Mochdre Sports
A sensational first half from the hosts saw them progress into the next round at the expense of Mochdre Sports. Gwyndaf Hughes opened the scoring for the hosts in the 13th minute, before a Ryan Woods double around the half hour mark ensure the hosts went in at half time with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
After the break, the visitors attempted to get back into the match, and managed to get a goal back through Kai Davies in the 60th minute. However, it just wasn’t to be for the visitors, and the hosts duly progressed into the next round.
