Cardiff Met’s Will Fuller says he must “wait for an opportunity to get back in that first team” after keeping a clean sheet in Friday Nights 7-0 win over Briton Ferry reserves.
The game marked his first game back with the Met since May after the last playing against Cefn Druids in the Europa League Play-Off Final and Fuller is delighted to be playing again.
“I’m a little bit rusty but expected that, but overall it’s nice to get ninety minutes, said Fuller.
“All in all from the original injury it has been about eight months but been lucky to have a good medical team around who have helped me out and got me back to where I am today.”
Fuller also had to praise Alex Lang, Max Manson and Esa Aalto who between then have come in to fill the gap between the sticks.
“They’ve all done really well and credit to them but it is out of my hands, so I will just see what happens.”
I just need to keep getting minutes wherever I can really and wait for an opportunity to get back in that first team.”
Caernarfon Town’s 3-1 win over Carmarthen moved the Canaries on 31 points, four points ahead of the Met with one game left sees the Met missing out on a third consecutive top-six despite picking up a three-nil win over Bala Town.
Fuller is forward to the Nathaniel MG Cup Final with Cambrian and Clydach at Jenner Park on the 19th January.
“It’s big for the club,” said Fuller.
“If you look where we have come over the last sort of eight/nine years, to be in a final of national competition is brilliant but we don’t underestimate the opposition at all.
“They’ve beaten four Welsh Prem sides along the way.
“We will go into that respecting them fully but confident in our abilities and game plan to hopefully get a win in that game.”
