Penybont recruit four new players for upcoming Welsh Premier League season

Penybont have began their Welsh Premier League preparations by signing four new players.

Dan Summerfield, Lewis Baldwin, Matthew Harris, and Nathan Wood have joined the six players who have said they’ll remain at the KYMCO Stadium for next season.

Lewis Baldwin joins from Division One side Pontypridd Town. He had been at Pontypridd since March after joining from Welsh Premier League club Carmarthen Town. Baldwin was part of the USW side which won the BUCS National title against Hartpury.

Matthew Harris moves from Merthyr Town, he previously had a loan spell with Briton Ferry Llansawel in 2017.

The 30-year-old is an attacking midfielder and began his career with Swansea City.

Harris thanked MerthyrTownFC.co.uk for his service by saying: “It was such a difficult decision for me however I have decided to move on to a new challenge.

“I would like to thank Merthyr Town for everything that they have done for me over the past 13 years. They gave me an opportunity at 17 and hopefully, I did the club proud in that time.”

Centre-back Dan Summerfield joins having spent four seasons in the Midlands with clubs like Halesowen Town and Stratford Town, where he was named Player of the Season.

Nathan Wood will join Penybont in the Welsh Premier League next season after making the move from fellow Division One side Undy Athletic. Wood is a wide player.

Billy Borge, Cullen Kinsella, Curtis Hutson, Kane Owen, Kieran Howard and captain Rhys Wilson have all committed their future to the club.

Owain Warlow will also remain at the club and joins Rhys Griffiths’ coaching staff as player-coach.
