Ammanford sign Swansea City legend Lee Trundle

Ammanford have made Swansea City legend Lee Trundle their first signing of the summer.

The 42-year-old has moved from Trefelin Boys & Girls Club to FAW Championship side Ammanford. 

Trundle moves on from Trefelin having joined them in January. He scored 14 goals during his time at Ynys Park, helping them to promotion to Division Two.

Trundle began playing in Wales, scoring 15 goals for Rhyl in the Welsh Premier League. A season later he moved to Wrexham where he got 27 goals in 94 appearances  in two years. Trundle moved to Swansea in 2003 and spent four years in South Wales, scoring 100 goals in all competitions. 

He returned to the Welsh pyramid in 2010 with Neath after spending time with Bristol City and Leeds United. His 27 goals helped Neath qualify for Europe. 

Ammanford will be the the fifth club that Trundle will have joined in three years, having returned to Welsh football after a three-year absence.

Next season, he will come up against former side Llanelli Town, where he scored 68 goals in 45 games, as well as Haverfordwest County, who he played for the first part of this season, scoring 12 goals in 18 appearances.

The news was revealed at Ammanford’s 12th annual celebration dinner as the club celebrated survival in their first season back in the second tier for 16 years. 

This season, Ammanford have erected a new 250-seater stand and floodlights, as well as perimeter fencing at their Recreational Ground home.
