The Oval: Llandudno Athletic and Amateurs campaign for ground improvements

A petition has been launched to improve the facilities of two Llandudno clubs.

The Oval – home of Welsh Alliance League outfit Llandudno Amateurs and fifth-tier Llandudno Athletic, requires improvements according to a petition.

It has previously housed Llandudno Albion who play in the third tier and homed two Wales international fixtures.

A failure to improve the current facilities at The Oval could see the ground fall short of the Football Association of Wales’ requirements, after introducing a criteria for three tiers of Welsh football.

The campaign wants to include a temporary barrier on the site, as well as dugouts, which will be funded by the two clubs according to North Wales Pioneer

“We have been working to have some alterations made at The Oval to facilitate the progress the clubs have made,” said Athletic manager Rhys Lane to the North Wales Pioneer.

“In order for these clubs to continue to play at their current levels a pitch with goals is no longer enough.

“This has been a two-year process and still we have got nowhere. We have made it clear that the clubs will foot the cost of all this development and all we require is the green light.”

Already the petition has hit over 300 signatures out of their target of 500.
