Altrincham defender James Jones has joined EFL League Two side Barrow.

The 23-year-old made the move to the newly promoted side after three years with Altrincham.

Jones left the Greater Manchester club after making 115 appearances. He did not play a part in Altrincham’s play-off success.

Before his move to Altrincham, Jones was an academy product of The New Saints.

Jones made eight appearances in the Cymru Premier following a three-year spell in the TNS first team.

Incredibly excited to join Barrow,” tweeted Jones.

“It’s a club only going in one direction, been working a long time for this kind of opportunity and couldn’t be any happier to be here.

He will link up with fellow TNS academy graduate Scott Quigley.

Quigley was top scorer for the Bluebirds last season, scoring 20 goals.

As a result of his goalscoring exploits, Quigley was named in the Vanarama National League’s Team of the Season.
