Welsh Premier Women’s League side Cardiff Metropolitan have made three signings this week.
New signings Ellie Finneran and Shannon Evans join the returning Chloe O’Connor at Cyncoed Campus.
The Archers are assembling a squad capable of challenging for the title after Swansea City prized away Wales’ top prize from the Met.
One player who may be a cog in the wheel of their title push is Shannon Evans.
Evans is returning the WPWL after a two-year exile.
She spent last season with Barry Town United Ladies but prior to that had a year out of playing.
In her last season of WPWL football, she was named Player of the Season and had been Cardiff City’s top scorer for three consecutive campaigns.
As Shannon rejoins the WPWL after time out of the top tier, she said: “I am delighted to have signed for Cardiff Met and have the opportunity to play in the WPWL again.
“I look forward to the challenges ahead and playing alongside this talented group of players.”
O’Connor last played for Met in 2017 and was nominated as Players Player of the Year in 2016.
She previously won the Welsh Premier Women’s League title with the Archers.
“It’s good to be back playing after such a long time out,” said O’Connor on her return to the Met.
“I am so happy to have rejoined Cardiff Met WFC and looking forward to getting started.
“We’ve got a great group of girls, so we will definitely be pushing for a Champions League spot once again.”
Joining Evans and O’Connor in South Wales is defender Ellie Finneran, who played for Iowa based Graceland University.
The Essex-born player said upon her move to Kerry Harris’ side: “I’m delighted to have joined Cardiff Met and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to play at this level.
“The team and staff here are very talented, so I am looking forward to the season ahead.
“I hope to develop as a player physically and mentally, whilst helping my teammates be the best they can be off the field.”
