Blackburn Rovers have announced the singing of former Wales youth international Ellie Leek as their sixth addition on the summer.
The 26-year old joins Blackburn having departed from fellow Championship club Lewes at the end of last season.
Leek spent 18 months at the Dripping Pan becoming a regular feature in the Rooks starting line-up, making 20 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking to the Rovers’ website she said: “I’m really happy to be signing here for Rovers.
“The environment Gemma [Donnelly] has created with the players was something that was very appealing to me and I saw that as soon as I came in here.
“Playing still in a very competitive league, but with an environment that is well suited to me, is something I’m really excited about.”
Leek has wasted no time in getting to know her new teammates as preparations continue for the new Championship season.
“The girls have been great; everyone’s been gelling here really well and there’s no-one here with big egos or anything like that.” she added.
“Everyone just wants to get down, work hard and fight for our spot in the Championship and progress as far up the league table as we can.”
The former Charlton and Le Harve player features in both games last season as Lewes did the double over Blackburn in the league.
The Torfean-native began her career with the Bristol Academy Centre of Excellence before going on to play in the United States for Auburn University.
Leek began the 2020/21 campaign playing as a forward before being retreating into a central midfield role for Lewes.
The midfielder has promised Rovers fan that she will give her all for her new side: “We want to be hard to beat and we want to be hard to break down.
“I obviously want to help the team as much as I can and making sure I always have high work-rate and good attitude and being as much help to my team-mates as much as possible regardless of if it’s in the starting 11 or as a bench player.
“No matter what role I’m in, I want to be giving my best all the time.”
