Steve Halliwell has been appointed Cymru Alliance outfit Gresford AFC’s permanent manager, it was announced today.
Halliwell had been in the same position as an interim, after Eddie Maurice Jones departed the club to become Denbigh Town boss in November.
In a quest to make his new job permanent, Halliwell guided to the club to two consecutive away wins over Holyhead and Porthmadog, sending Gresford to sixth in the league and just three points off third place.
Joining Halliwell as his assistant is current Gresford AFC reserves manager Matt Davies, with an appointment for the reserves side, who are currently unbeaten under the previous management of both Davies and Halliwell, expected later on this week.
GAFC Chairman, Julian Davies said:
“We are really pleased to give Steve the opportunity to manage our 1st team on a full time basis.
“Steve has done a wonderful job with our reserves over the last few seasons and we are sure he will continue that with the first team. Steve has been associated with the club for a number of years and it’s great to promote someone from within the club”
In his first game as permanent manager, Halliwell faces Flint Town United at home for a 2:30pm kick off on Saturday 10 December.
