Cardiff City take on Cardiff Met in the Adran Premier on Sunday at the Cardiff International Sports Campus.
With the Bluebirds on course to win the league for the first time since 2013, can the Archers derail their march to the title?
In terms of the Adran Premier, City have been unstoppable. They have yet to lose a game, but in the past couple of matches, they have gone behind, perhaps a sign that they are more vulnerable then they have been in the past. But, while they have gone behind, they have show tenacity and spirit to gain something from those games. Most notably in their last league game away at Swansea, where a 97th minute Phoebie Poole equaliser rescued a point for them.
The word to describe Met this season is steady. They have been a constant presence in the top three, but their first two matches in the Championship Plate have been below their high expectations. Having suffered defeat to TNS, they went on to lose 4-0 at home to Swansea, with Stacey John-Davies proving too hot for the Archers defence to handle.
Of course, the biggest talking point going into this game is the Adran Trophy final on Sunday, where Met inflicted City’s first loss of the season. The Archers moved to a different formation and stifled City’s attacking talents for large swathes of the game. Bluebirds boss Iain Darbyshire called the result a wake up call; will they get their revenge on Sunday?
