Cardiff City were crowned champions of the Adran Premier after winning 3-1 against The New Saints at Leckwith Stadium.
A second-half brace from captain Siobhan Walsh put the Bluebirds on their way to a first league title in ten years. She scored with a header and then six minutes from time scored from the spot, but missed her second penalty five minutes later.
Ffion Price opened the scoring for the hosts but Beth Lewis pulled once back for TNS. Greg Draper’s side conducted themselves well and made it difficult for Cardiff in the first half. Cardiff however came out in the second period and limited the away sides defence and had several opportunities to further their advantage.
Cardiff will now receive a guard of honour from Cardiff Met and Swansea City, who have held a grip on Welsh women’s football for the last decade. They are now subject to licencing from the Football Association of Wales, to find out whether they can compete in the UEFA Champions League.
Iain Darbyshire’s side also have an FAW Women’s Cup final to look forward to against Adran South champions Briton Ferry Llansawel on Sunday, April 23.
