Croesyceiliog snap up Wattsville striker Bonthron

Croesyceiliog have signed free scoring Wattsville striker Alex Bonthron to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.

Croesyceiliog lead Welsh League Division Two currently, having picked up nine wins from 15 games, but they have now added to their squad a proven striker at lower league level.

Bonthron has been prolific at Gwent County level with Wattsville and has helped guide the club through the divisions, as they reached Gwent County League Division One last season. The striker has netted over a goal a game whilst at the club, scoring 191 goals in 134 games since 2011.

However, he only began to prove his quality in front of goal from 2013 onwards when he was moved to striker from the left wing.

Bonthron netted 55 goals in 2014/15, followed up by 52 in 15/16, and 51 in 17/18. The striker endured a short spell with Abergavenny but returned to his local club following the end of the season.

He now joins a well performing Croesyceiliog squad, as they look to reach Welsh League Division One.The club were delighted to have secured his services.

Manager Gareth Wilmott expressed his delight at having finally got the man he’d been chasing.

“Delighted I’ve finally managed to get this signing done! Third time lucky!!Welcome aboard mate.”

The striker will be looking to make the first team squad ahead of their next fixture against X.
