Chepstow Town install new management team

Chepstow Town have appointed the new management team of Ian Summers and Paul Lovell.

They replace former Newport County defender Darren Jones who has left the South East Wales side.

Summers leaves his role of Gwent County League Division Two side Marshfield to take up the role. Paul Berry who had previously worked with Newport Civil Service will assist the management duo as assistant manager.

Ian Summers leaves Marshfield second in the table as Marshfield suffered an 8-0 defeat to Abertillery Excelsiors on Saturday. Chepstow Town were handed a 5-0 hammering to Tredegar Town on the same day.

Ian Summers said on his appointment: “Hopefully we can turn this around very quick by getting some wins under our belts and install some needed confidence.”

Summers has taken players Billy Evans Jr and Michael Dixon to the Monmouthsire side from Marshfield.

Billy Evans Jnr was the third highest goalscorer in Division Two of the Gwent County League, with 12 goals scored.

Marshfield revealed on Saturday that Summers left the club to take up the vacant role at Chepstow Town.

“We would like to wish Ian all the best and thank him for all what he’s done for us throughout his time at the club.

We understand it’s a challenge that he just couldn’t turn down.”

The management duo could make their Chepstow Town debut this weekend at Larkfield Park, when they host Pontyclun.

Chepstow are currently 11th in the table, whilst Pontyclun are third.
