Trethomas Bluebirds appoint Dunford as new manager
Trethomas Bluebirds have announced that they have appointed Mark Dunford to take over as the club’s new first team manager at the end of the season.
The Welsh League Division Three side are currently third in the table, just four points behind Penrhiwceiber in second, but have played three games more than their opponents.
Andrew Diggle decided to step down come to the end of the season, as a result of work commitments.
The current manager announced “I have decided to step down as manager at the end of the season.
Assessing all aspects of club it will take a few seasons to put an infrastructure in place and in order for me to be a success at the club as I promised when I got the role I am needed elsewhere other than the touchline.”
Trethomas have now announced Diggle’s successor, as Dunford takes charge of the first team. Trethomas and Newport played to a 2-2 draw at Ystrad Mynach on Friday evening.
A statement said “Mark brings with him a wealth of experience and success of Welsh League football and was number one candidate for the role. Mark’s knowledge of Welsh League along with contacts and passion to succeed in the club’s journey was evident during discussions with committee and appointing early gives the club the best chance to progress next season.”
The manager will be assisted by first team players Bobby Briers and Adam Raymond next season.
